Training Outline

What does the course cover?

The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on the best practices and international industry standards, including:

  • Environmental Management Systems and Impact Assessments
  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Control of pollution
  • Planning for and managing environmental emergencies

What will you study? Program structure

Days 1-5

Unit NEC1: Management and control of environmental hazards:

  • Foundations in environmental management
  • Environmental management systems
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Control of emissions to air
  • Control of contamination of water resources
  • Control of waste and land use
  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Control of environmental noise
  • Planning for and managing environmental emergencies

Unit NEC2: Environmental practical application (one hour each day)

This unit will assess a candidate's ability to successfully complete two activities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of the NEC1 syllabus, by successful completion of an environmental review of the candidate's own workplace using the NEBOSH Environmental review proforma.
  • Complete a report to management regarding the review with recommendations, using the NEBOSH Environmental review report template. The proforma and report should clearly identify:
    • The nature and location of each environmental issue;
    • The degree of risk associated with the environmental issue;
    • Preventative and protective environmental measures already in place;
    • The remedial actions, where appropriate, with relevant prioritization.

Days 6:

Review of NEC1 and NEC2

Days 7:

NEBOSH Exam.

Study material

Each participant attending the program receives a comprehensive reference manual covering, in depth, all of the subjects included in the training program.

Venue

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management course is delivered at one of our training center at the set dates for public courses or can also be provided at your company's location for "local" training courses and exams.

Flexibility

Local courses and examinations can be delivered on the dates, at the venues and in the languages convenient for your company if you have eight participants or more.
